Optically similar and both part of the Fitbit Versa family - Fitbit Versa 2 and Fitbit Versa Lite. The name Lite suggests that the version offers a little less, which is the case. But questions remain unanswered:

Differences between Fitbit Versa 2 and Versa Lite

Let's look at the differences between the two Versa models in detail.

Design, size and weight

Optically the two models look very similar. This is no wonder, since they both belong to the Versa family.

The size of the Versa Lite is a bit smaller than the size of the Versa 2. This also affects the weight, which makes the Versa Lite lighter.

Display

The display makes a big difference here. This lies in the size and type. The Lite version has a display with a size of about 24 x 24 mm. The Versa 2 offers 40 x 40 mm.

In contrast to the Versa Lite the Versa 2 has an Always-On-Display. This can be activated or deactivated. If it is switched on, important information always remains visible on the display. The watch can be read and used without touching it. Unlike its predecessor, the Fitbit Versa (1).

Colours

The Fitbit Versa 2, Versa 2 Special Edition and Versa Lite are also available in different colours:

  • Fitbit Versa Lite: Silver Aliminium, Ocean Blue, Magenta
  • Fitbit Versa 2: Carbon, Mist Grey, Copper Rose
  • Fitbit Versa 2 Special Edition: Mist Grey, Copper Rose

This is only the colour of the watch itself. The colour of the bracelets is relatively unimportant, as they can be exchanged. There is also a big selection of cheap (not original) wristbands for the Versa. The straps are compatible within the Versa family. Means the wristbands always fit the Versa (1), Versa 2 and Versa Lite. This does not apply to the bumpers, because the display size is not identical.

However, the colour of the watch itself must be chosen carefully. It is not possible to change it afterwards.

Functions

The Versa Lite is also slightly behind the Versa 2 in terms of functionality. The Versa Lite offers no possibility to start guided training on the watch. Also, the Versa Lite cannot toughen floors or record lanes while swimming. But both are waterproof up to 50 meters.

The Fitbit Versa Lite can...

  • no floors
  • not count lanes (swimming)
  • no guided training

The standards, such as steps, heart rate and sleep analysis offer both variants of the Versa. Versa 2 and Versa Lite as well as Versa (1) also offer the functions for women's health.

However, Fitbit Pay is only available with the Versa 2 Special Edition. This is also the case with the Versa (1) and the Charge 3. However, I was not convinced by Fitbit Pay anyway.

Reply by voice

The Versa 2 does not have a built-in microphone that can also be used for voice messages. The Versa Lite only supports Quick Replies. With the Versa 2 you can send individual voice messages as an answer. However, it is not possible to listen to voice messages.

Voice control Alexa

The biggest upgrade of the Versa 2 is in Alexa. There you have the possibility to use Alexa via the clock. For this you have to have an active connection to your smartphone. All in all you have the possibility to use your smartphone or other functions of Alexa for the Versa 2. In my eyes this is relevant for very few.

Music storage

You can only store music on the Versa 2*. On the Versa Lite, Fitbit does not offer this option. With the Versa 2 there is also the option to control Spotify via the clock.

Battery life

The Fitbit Versa 2 has slightly improved its battery life. It is advertised with 4 to 5 days. The Versa Lite only with 4 days. If the Always-On display is activated, however, the battery life of the Versa 2 drops to up to 2 days.

Similarities of the Fitbit Versa 2 and Versa Lite

So that no possible questions arise, I will briefly go into the similarities of Versa 2 and Versa Lite, which are relevant.

GPS

Fitbit and GPS is always an issue. Many would like to have a built-in GPS. This can only be found in the Fitbit Ionic - comparison Fitbit Ionic and Versa 2. The Fitbit Versa 2 has no built-in GPS. Just like the Versa Lite.

You can only use connected GPS with the Versa family. The connection to the smartphone is used and the GPS is used by the smartphone. Logically, an active and permanent connection with the smartphone is necessary.

Waterproof

I've mentioned it before. The Versa 2 and Versa Lite are up to 50 meters waterproof. So both devices can also be used in the water. But there is a difference. The Versa Lite is not able to record tracks.

Which Fitbit Versa is right for you?

All in all, I think the Versa Lite is relatively uninteresting. The sales have confirmed this quite well so far. The Versa* and Versa 2* offer more functions for just a little more budget.

More interesting for you might be the difference between the Fitbit Versa and Versa 2. Because the Versa is now cheaper and definitely offers enough for most of us. The differences to the second generation are very small and not relevant for most. You can also see the *LINK:ccid:48270#comparison between Fitbit Versa (1) and Versa Lite##.
