Differences Fitbit Sense and Apple Watch 6
The difference between the Apple Watch 5 and Apple Watch 6 is relatively small. For this reason the comparison between the Fitbit Sense and Apple Watch 5* is quite interesting for you. The result is also relatively similar. It is important to know that the Apple Watch 6 can only be used with iOS, i.e. an iPhone. There is no possibility to use the full range of functions with an Android device.
You can connect the Fitbit Sense to any system. That would be iOS, Android and Windows. For many people this can be the decisive purchase criterion.
Design, size and display
Visually, the two watches look very similar. Fitbit has probably based its design on the Apple design. Of course there are small changes, because Apple has protected a few design factors. The two watches are also very similar in size:
- Fitbit Sense: 40 x 40 x 12 mm
- Apple Watch 6: 40 x 34 x 10,7 mm
The Apple Watch 6 has a 1.57" retina display with 324 x 394 pixels. With the Fitbit Sense you get a 1.58" AMOLED display with 336 x 336 pixels. This means that the watches hardly differ in the display size. But the quality of the Apple Watch 6 is better.
Sensors
This may come as a surprise to many, but the Fitbit Sense has more sensors than the Apple Watch 6, especially EDA and the skin temperature sensor. The ECG function as well as the SpO2 sensor both offer you watches.LTE
A big difference between the two products is the LTE point. Only the Apple Watch 6 is optionally available with LTE. So you can use the Apple Watch 6 with LTE independently from your smartphone. This is very helpful for emergency calls and some other functions. However, you will have to pay a small surcharge. The Fitbit Sense is not available with LTE.Contactless payment (LTE)
Biede watches support contactless payment, which has become very popular since Covid19. Personally I am very happy, because I am a great friend of the uncomplicated and fast contactless payment. But please note that both manufacturers rely on their own systems. Fitbit uses Fitbit Pay, Apple uses Apple Pay. In comparison Apple Pay is more mature. The choice of banks for Fitbit Pay is somewhat limited. I have also written a report about my experiences with Fitbit Pay.
In my opinion, however, this should not be a reason for the purchase decision. I myself use my smartphone for contactless payment, which in my opinion is not a big deal.
Battery life
Apple still scores very poorly in terms of battery life. The Apple Watch 6 has a battery life of up to 18 hours. Compared to the Fitbit Sense this is relatively sad. There you get 6 days battery life. Advertised even with 6+ days.It is interesting that Apple does not get the battery life under control. Since the beginning battery life has been a big problem of the Apple Watch series. The Fitbit Sense is clearly in the lead here.
Which watch is better?
We could also reformulate the question: Fitness or Smartwatch? The Fitbit Sense offers you a few more fitness functions with the additional sensors alone. If you are looking for a fitness watch, I think the Fitbit Sense* is your choice. Another reason is the much better battery life. The smart functions of the Apple Watch 6* are slightly better. In combination with an iPhone everything runs smoothly here. Notifications and answers over the clock are no problem for Apple. This is no wonder, since both devices come from the same house.
Fitbit is a bit different. There are often small problems with notifications and the connection to the smartphone. Answers via Fitbit Sense are also not possible in connection with Apple, as Apple prevents this.
If you are looking for a Smartwatch and own an iPhone, then Apple Watch 6* is your choice.
