Bose QuietComfort 45 vs 700 - Which is better?

Bose has become very famous with its noise cancelling Overear headphones QuietComfort35 II. After that, there was the premium model Bose 700 and now there is another model in the series: The Bose QuietComfort 45. Let's take a look at the headphones in comparison and take a look at the differences.

The two headphones already differ visually. The QuietComfort 45 looks much more like the QueitComfort 35 II. In comparison, the Bose 700 is much slimmer and looks much more elegant in my opinion. Well, according to the name, the QuietComfort 45 is also rather the successor of the QuietComfort 35 II.

Weight

Let's first stay with the exterior picture and compare the weight. The difference is small here.

• Bose QuietComfort 45: 240 Gramm

In my eyes, such a weight difference of 10 grams is not worth mentioning. However, you probably wouldn't expect that visually, since the QuietComfort 45 seems chunkier than the Bose 700.

Noisce Canceling (noise suppression)

Of course, ANC, i.e. noise suppression, is an exciting and important aspect of the headphones. Both offer noise suppression. However, this differs in scope.

With the Bose 700, you get the option to choose between 11 levels of noise reduction. In comparison, the Bose QuietComfort 45 only gives you the choice of two levels. These are the Quiet and Aware modes. The comfort is thus significantly higher in the Bose 700.

Control

The two Overear headphones also differ in terms of controls. The Bose 700 is controlled via touch sensor and buttons. The QuietComfort 45 are controlled exclusively via buttons. Which is better depends on personal preference.

Akkulaufzeit

When it comes to battery life, the Bose QuietComfort 45* comes up trumps. It comes with a battery life of up to 24 hours. With the Bose 700, the battery life is up to 20 hours and thus turns out lower.

Depending on the settings, the battery life can of course turn out lower. Especially ANC affects the battery life of the headphones.

Equalizer

The Bose 700 has an adjustable equalizer. Again, you get more comfort than with the Bose QuietComfort 45. The equalizer is controlled via the Bose app, as is the case with headphones from other manufacturers.

Voice control

It might not be relevant for everyone, but the Bose 700 offers a bit more in terms of voice control. The Bose QuietComfort 45 only comes with the preinstalled voice assistant. The Bose 700 also comes with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

Spotify by touch

Many people like to use the Spotify music service. Bose has integrated touch control into the Bose 700. Again, this is a plus point for the Bose 700. You cannot control Spotify via the buttons in the QuietComfort 45. Nor via touch, of course, since the QuietComfort 45 does not offer touch control.

Bluetooth

One last difference before we get to our conclusion. The Bose QuietComfort 45 comes with Bluetooth 5.1, while the Bose 700 has Bluetooth 5.0, which means that the Bose QuietComfort 45 offers a bit more, but that is not the biggest difference.

Which Bose headphones should you buy?

In comparison, the Bose 700* is the better choice in my opinion. The headphones offer much more head comfort and also make an elegant impression. Whereby the optics is of course a question of taste.

If we look at the price, I think the Bose 700 is still the better choice of the two. Since the Bose 700 is already a bit older, this affects the price. Thus, at the time of writing, the Bose 700* is lower than for the new Bose QuietComfort 45*.
