Differences between Garmin vivoactive 4 and Fitibt Versa 2
The Garmin watch and the Fitbit watch have a lot in common. Nevertheless, the vivoactive 4 is not without reason more expensive.GPS, GLONASS & GALILEO
One of the big differences is the GPS. The vivoactive 4 has built-in GPS. With the Versa 2 you have to use the connection to your smartphone. This is called connected GPS. Additionally you get GLONASS and GALILEO with the Garmin vivoactive 4. With Fitbit you have to do without both completely. This gives Garmin a clear lead on GPS.Display
Both watches have a color touch display. Nevertheless, there are differences. Because Garmin has always attached more importance to function than optics. This is also the case with the Vivoactive 4.Especially when we evaluate the quality of the display. Although the display of the Garmin vivoactive 4 is by no means bad, the Fitbit Versa 2 is still ahead. The display is sharper and offers better colors and a better backlight.
The Garmin Venu looks different, by the way. With the Venu, Garmin has put more focus on the display for the first time. You can find more about this in comparison of Garmin Venu and vivoactive 4.
In the design the two devices can hardly be compared. The Versa 2 is more fashionable and angular. The Garmin vivoactive 4 is more like a conventional wristwatch. This is where your preference must decide.
Battery life
The battery life of the Garmin vivoactive is up to 8 days ahead of the Versa 2, which lasts up to 6 days. However, the battery life of the vivoactive 4 decreases significantly when GPS is activated. I would just put the Garmin vivoactive in front of the Versa 2.Voice control, Amazon Alexa
A big difference between the Fitbit Versa and Versa 2 was with the voice control via Amazon Alexa. This also puts the Versa 2 in front compared to the vivoactive 4. There you have no voice control. From my point of view this is not really important, but you should know that. Of course, you can also think quite differently in this point.Sports
Garmin offers you more choice in sports. Fitbit is generally more limited here. In many cases, the type of sport has no effect on tracking.Guided training directly via the watch is offered by both watches. This is one of the differences between the Garmin vivoactive 3 and 4.
The Garmin also offers special rowing features. This is true for both indoor and outdoor rowers.
Running and ANT+
Garmin clearly trumps when running and leaves the Fitbit Versa 2 in the shade. With the Garmin vivoactive 4 you have the possibility to bind a pulse via ANT+. This offers you a higher accuracy in heart rate measurement. With the Versa 2 you only have to measure your wrist.Additionally you can use other modules like Stryd and Runscribe with Garmin. This allows you to measure and evaluate your running units even more accurately. The point is of course only relevant for runners. If you are a runner you should also take a look at the Garmin Forerunner series. These are especially optimized for running. You can also take a look at the comparison of the Garmin vivoactive 4 and Forerunner 245.
Golf
Let's come to an even more special training: Golf. Garmin has been offering special functions for golf for quite some time now, and many models do. Strokes can be measured and evaluated. This is very special and probably not relevant for most people. Nevertheless, the vivoactive 4 offers you this function. With the Fitbit Versa 2 there is no nearly similar function.App and Motivation
The app's got Fitbit way ahead of Garmin. The reason for this is that Fitbit concentrates almost exclusively on fitness trackers.Garmin, on the other hand, is active in the entire outdoor sector. At Garmin, everything is managed in one app - Garmin Connect. This makes the app a bit more complex and thus a bit more cumbersome.
The Fitbit app is very easy to use and has convinced me for a long time. In addition, the motivation is better integrated with Fitbit. Competitions can easily be carried out there. Also the badges of Fitbit are very motivating.
Waterproof and swimming
There's no difference here. But the point is still important. Both watches are waterproof up to 50 meters and can be used for swimming. Both clocks can also count the lanes. But only if you swim in the pool. Both clocks cannot record free swimming.Music
Both devices can store music. The vivoactive 4 gbit it also only with music. Different than it was the case with the vivoactive 3.Fitbit offers Deezer and Spotify for streaming. Garmin has Spotify and Amazon Music on board.
Which watch is better for you?
The question which watch is better for you can be answered relatively easily from my point of view.- Garmin vivoactive 4* for sport (Athletes)
- Fitbit Versa 2* for movement motivation and weight reduction (or everyone)
Garmin definitely trumps in punk sports functions. You can connect a heart rate belt, benefit from built-in GPS and more optimization for use in sports. Disadvantages are the significantly higher price and the slightly worse display. For athletes the Garmin vivoactive 4* is the better choice. The predecessor vivoactive 3* is also a bit cheaper and still good. You can find more about this in the comparison of the Garmin vivoactive 3 and 4.
Fitbit offers you a very simple handling and a very nice app. With Fitbit you also get a little more smart functions. If you just want to lose weight, do some sports or are looking for motivation to move more, then I think the Fitbit Versa 2* is the right choice. Here you also save a lot in price.
